Just Some Stuff

They are taking over!

Coming through and climbing the fence.

I enjoy seeing my basket full to overflowing.  I might need a bigger basket.

Celebrating Vegetables

I LOVE IT!      I LOVE IT!      I LOVE IT!

The first English cucumber.

While sprinkling, Pappy decided we should harvest the potatoes.  Okay by me.  It felt great.

After some trial and error and discussion, we decided it would be better just to dump out the grow bags on a tarp so we could transfer the dirt to the raised beds when we found all the potatoes.

Who needs a potato fork when you have mismatched gloves that do a good job.

If you look closely and you have ever seen my aunt Dory and my dad...you are looking at a combo and it turns out to be me.  It is kinda of creepy but  LOVE IT.

Might as well wash potatoes in the driveway in the rain.

We had to stop for a bit because it started to really rain, but I was back at it as soon as it let up.

Aren't they beautiful!

The purple ones are even pretty on the inside.

Our squash beds aren't producing.  I've been doing a little research and I don't think there are enough flowers to entice the pollinators to do their thing.  So I cut a few buckets of marigolds off the fence and put them at the base of the squash beds.  I hope it works if not I may have to hand-pollinate.

The Last June Walk-Around

A surprise squash hanging around on the fence.

The blackberries didn't do as well as I would have liked.  We have been researching and we know what to try for next year.

The cucumbers are coming slowly and steadily.  Doing some research on them also.

The grey coneflowers are spreading like crazy!

Bee balm.  My neighbor has some tall red ones that I am looking for.  I have seen wild ones on the side of the road.  I just need to make sure I have my bucket and shovel in the car when I go out.  This plant will get split in the fall.

I had to get really low to find this little what I think will be pumpkin.

The ornamental gourds are nuts.  I love looking for them.  One day they are small and then the next time I think to look they have grown to be as big as my hand.

One of Murph's pepper.

I know I only planted marigold seeds here.  Looks like a few volunteer tomato plants.  I can't wait to see what they are.  I'm hoping they are Sunsugars.

Our squash patch is sucking fumes.  I have no idea what to do.

Here today...gone the next.  It just disappeared from the plant.

so pretty

It's a mystery.

Fancy dancy!

Mark is a big Ohio State fan, so we must have a buckeye plant in the yard.

After The Storm

Every time we get a weather notification that were are expecting a storm I begin to pray that all of our hard work doesn't go up in smoke.  We have had a few storms over the last couple of days and here are the results.

I lost a few zinnias.

Lots of the flowers just got laid over.  Hopefully, when the sun comes out tomorrow they will perk up.

Two of the galdiolas got broken.

The zucchini plants got twisted around a bit.

The yellow squash got turned around a bit.

All in all, we were really fortunate that this is all that happened.  We thought we were going to lose a limb from the oak tree.  We heard two cracks.  That would have been a disaster.

Just A Few Beds

We are having a little issue with the Japanese beetle.  So out come the bags.  The sweet smell of the risk that attacks them smells so good.  We catch them by the hundreds!

That's going to be a ton of sunflowers!

I can't wait to see what these are going to produce.

It is literally over the top!

The second cucumber planting.
