Just A Little White Stuff

Girls aren't too happy about the white stuff.  The newest place to take cover since Mark trimmed the bushes...behind the hot tub.  And I am guessing it might be warm back there too.

Scoot was checking it out.

Boot kinda likes it but Boogie says no way, no not me.  I'm not going out there.

Can you tell that I am in love with my garden stone? Until spring it will be int he house.

Couldn't Be Happier

I ordered this stepping stone back in the spring from a high school friend.  I told her what I wanted and she came up with a design.  I asked if she could put some cobalt blue in it and she did.  Without realizing it she put our Sunny in the center.  Looks just like her.

I picked it up yesterday and could not be more pleased!  I love and I can't wait to get it home to find the most perfect place for it.

And the other best thing is that we plan to have lunch the next time I'm in Huntington.  Should be fun!  Thanks, Connie!

I Have Eggs Coming Out Of My Ears!

So I needed to step away from the computer for awhile so I decided to go out to weed a bit.  And look what I found under the burning bush...a pretty good size egg.  I'm thinking one of my sweet girls didn't want to make a run for the cook during a downpour and just let one drop while she was taking cover under the bush.  A girl's gotta get rid of an egg when it is time!  Needless to say, this one is in the compost bin.

I gotta 'em, who needs 'em?

There Is Always Something....

...different about my girls.

One weekend when I was away Emmy was in charge of the animals.  She found this very small egg.

Then tonight I found this perfectly normal size egg in a nest of goat feed that somehow had gotten on the ground in the most perfect shape of a nest.

SMH

It has been raining for a few days.  Guess they don't like getting their feet wet!

Someone found the compost gathering bowl.  I am almost positive everyone will know about it within the hour.

Funny thing with no pic to prove it.  I went out to fill the goat buckets with feed.  I found an egg.  Seems like a few of Pappy's girls have been living with the goats for a few days.

I Just Shake My Head

Our friends were watching over the farm while we were sunning our buns in the sand.  Usually, before we leave, we make sure that everyone is taken care of.  This means that we clean out their 'living space', refresh the water, and make sure that all food containers are full.  I made sure the girls had plenty of shavings in their coop and nesting boxes.  I guess I put a little too much....no one laid any eggs in the correct spot...

They laid them where they are supposed to sleep.  This is the egg drop from Wednesday until Saturday evening.  And seems that only two of them are roosting in the larger chicken house.  They all want to be together in the red coop which is only designed for 6-8 birds.  I can see that happening this winter when it is cold...but now when it is so stinkin' hot?

I just love a pretty basket of eggs!

and then I find these to yahoos checking out the inside of the rabbit hutch.  Guess I better start checking her for eggs too.

After The Rain

Guess Leona got tired of standing on the wet grass so she decided to sit in the chair and wait for me.

Now that is a BIG egg.

After The First Rain

Pappy's Girls were all out fluffing themselves dry on the goat playground.

It is a little soggy out there today.  And doesn't look like the evening will be much better.

Please Say It Isn't Going To Rain

By the looks of this huddle it might be going to rain.  Micahel says in about an hour it should hit.  I'm thinking the boys are telling me sooner by their body language.

Today, Another First

Sometimes the chickens like to have sleep-overs with the goats.  I figure if you fly in to be with your friends, surely you can fly back out to roost in your one coop.  Not these two.  Nope, not them.  I kept seeing a chicken in the goat bucket.  Sometimes they get in there and feast on goat food.  I figured that was what they were doing.  Guess I was wrong.

They Sure Can Be Silly

I'm trying again to get the chickens interested in music!  Looks like they may have some competition.

Just A Few Of My Friends

They found the coolest place in the yard..under the rabbit hutches.

Well, now the goats got a new watering bucket...seems everyone has one.

An Awesome Addition

A high school friend, Connie Clay back in the day, but Connie Dillon these days works with stained glass and makes the most incredible pieces of art.  I asked her one day if she could make me a stepping stone from a t-shirt I had made when NottaLotta first came to be....and this is what she made!

And you can't tell it here but the background is cobalt blue.  And who loves cobalt blue!!!  Sunny iS famous.  So now it is in the drying process.  And Connie will keep it until my next trip to Huntington.

So come on people buy those eggs!

Odds And Ends

Shann..the Chicken Whisperer

They are such a help...NOT.  Every time I bend over to weed I end up with a chicken under me.  I know she is waiting for the bugs.  She wants to be the first in line.

the girls have been practicing....

Ella shares her water bowl.  Mind you, the chickens have three waterers and the ghetto pool.

That chicken on America's Got Talent has nothing on my girls...the play and sing!

Our Little Helpers

We are ever so slowly trying to clean up all the weeds and junk in the yard.  WE have the front finished all but one bed down by the street.  It only took us three days to get the front looking nice.  The backyard may take a few years.  And with all these wonderful helpers...

Eggs, Eggs, Eggs, And More Eggs

We have plenty!  Who needs them!

Oh Those Silly Ladies At Wyngate

Bonnie left this newspaper and a few egg cartons in my dad's room while we were at the hospital...

I think she is trying to get me in trouble!

All The Way In Australia....

My boys are being painted!

My friend Moey is such a good sport.  We have been FB friends for as long as I can remember.  We have never met but I feel like I know her and she knows me so well.  A few years back when I got the chickens I asked her if she could work me up a pic of all the chickens.  And did she ever!  I love it more than words can say.  She would keep me updated with little looks at what she as doing along the way.  It seemed like the painting took the slow boat from Austrailia to get her.  The pic finally came.  Mark and I went right out that evening and had it framed.  Now it hangs in the hallway for everyone to see.  And I love it..did I say that?

I asked Moey awhile back if she would have the time to doing something small with the goats.  She has a house full of kids, a husband and she is in school.  I think she might be busier than me.  She agreed and asked me to send some shots of the boys that I liked.  I did...I sent a ton I think.  Moey is always good to read the NottaLotta Farm blog so she knows the personalities of each of the boys...just like she did with all the chickens.  I figured that Scoot would be the most challenging to paint.  I know that I have a hard time getting a good shot of him.  He is most always shy and the last to join in.  Ever since his surgery, he is a little leery of me.  And I think she captured that so well.  And she even has hi collar and bell around hi neck.  I love it!  I am so looking forward to seeing how she paints the rest.

Funny thing about it is that while I am sleeping she is working.  Like right now it is 1 in the afternoon here while in Perth it is 1 am.  I woke up this morning just knowing that she was going to post something today.  I dreamed about it all night last night.  Bright and early I was up checking FB and sure enough I saw this cute little face smiling at me.

Thanks, Moey!

Something Is Just Not Right

Two night in a row this is what I have found when I go out to lock the girls in for the night.

They are all lined up roosting on the split rail fence on the outside of the coop.  I finally had to lift a few in and then coaxed the rest with some scratch.  I am wondering what tonight will bring because they didn;t want to come out this morning.  I have checked every nook and cranny looking for maybe a snake.  Nothing that I can see.

Eggs and Berries

Looks like we have some slackers today. But the berries are getting bigger and redder!
