All The Way In Australia....

My boys are being painted!

My friend Moey is such a good sport.  We have been FB friends for as long as I can remember.  We have never met but I feel like I know her and she knows me so well.  A few years back when I got the chickens I asked her if she could work me up a pic of all the chickens.  And did she ever!  I love it more than words can say.  She would keep me updated with little looks at what she as doing along the way.  It seemed like the painting took the slow boat from Austrailia to get her.  The pic finally came.  Mark and I went right out that evening and had it framed.  Now it hangs in the hallway for everyone to see.  And I love it..did I say that?

I asked Moey awhile back if she would have the time to doing something small with the goats.  She has a house full of kids, a husband and she is in school.  I think she might be busier than me.  She agreed and asked me to send some shots of the boys that I liked.  I did...I sent a ton I think.  Moey is always good to read the NottaLotta Farm blog so she knows the personalities of each of the boys...just like she did with all the chickens.  I figured that Scoot would be the most challenging to paint.  I know that I have a hard time getting a good shot of him.  He is most always shy and the last to join in.  Ever since his surgery, he is a little leery of me.  And I think she captured that so well.  And she even has hi collar and bell around hi neck.  I love it!  I am so looking forward to seeing how she paints the rest.

Funny thing about it is that while I am sleeping she is working.  Like right now it is 1 in the afternoon here while in Perth it is 1 am.  I woke up this morning just knowing that she was going to post something today.  I dreamed about it all night last night.  Bright and early I was up checking FB and sure enough I saw this cute little face smiling at me.

Thanks, Moey!

Something Is Just Not Right

Two night in a row this is what I have found when I go out to lock the girls in for the night.

They are all lined up roosting on the split rail fence on the outside of the coop.  I finally had to lift a few in and then coaxed the rest with some scratch.  I am wondering what tonight will bring because they didn;t want to come out this morning.  I have checked every nook and cranny looking for maybe a snake.  Nothing that I can see.

Eggs and Berries

Looks like we have some slackers today. But the berries are getting bigger and redder!

Who Let The Goats Out?

Boogie has found a new bush to munch on.

Note to self...take laundry off the line before letting the goats out.

Some of the boys have figured out how to reach the high leaves.

They are still munching on the old Christmas trees.

Everything is going to be well 'trimmed' about three feet off the ground.

Eggs Coming Out My Ears

I try to limit my trips to the nesting boxes to once in the evening.  That gives the girls all day to lay eggs and I don't wear a path in the grass.  It is so hard not to go see who laid an egg when I hear them singing their egg song.  the other night I went out and found at least one eggs in all for nesting boxes in Mark's Girls nesting boxes.  That is another first.

It Is Always Something

Last week we spent about 4 hours cleaning our the chicken coops and dusting the chickens.  Some of the girls will come to you and some will squat down to be picked up but then there are others that run around like....chickens with their heads cut off.  We finally got smart and coaxed them into the rabbit sunning pen.  They would only go in two at a time.   After we got finished I looked back in the backyard and this is what I saw.  Wouldn't you know it?

Leona taking a short cut to the kitchen compost bowl that is in the potting sink.

And then I find this-this morning...somebody has a story to tell.  But all girls are accounted for.  Feathers are everywhere!  Even in the birdhouse above this mess.

Binker Screen Shots

Binker doesn't get much blog time.  He is camera shy.

I'll have to do some research to see just how old he is.  I know he is less that 11 years old.

He's a sweet boy and provided fertilizer for the flower beds.

PLEASE, Can We Come Out And Play?

Silly Girls

Two somebody's spent the night with the goats I see!

Spent The Evening With The Girls

Somebody has been dusting in the mud.

Itch, itch.

Something going on here...not sure what.  Maybe she is egg bound.

No wonder I can't get anything to grow.

Running across the yard to see what all the commotion is all about.

Yummy worms.

Strutting

I like to watch them listen for worms.

Someone was dusting in the fire pit.

Wonder how far she would jump if I turned on the fountain?

Reable brought these two cartoons down the other day during breakfast.
