And Then...

There was a day when I found an egg in the goat pen in the ditch lilies.

We don't eat the ones we find in the yard.  They go to compost.  Don't want to take any chances.

They Are So Funny

I was out in the yard messing around and thought I would check to see if I had any green eggs. We haven't seen one for a few weeks.  Either she has stopped laying or they are hidden in a nest somewhere in the yard.  This is exactly what I saw when I looked in the nesting box.  All the seven eggs lined in a straight line.  Crazy!  I have heard of getting all your ducks in a row...some OCD chickens in the house!

When I went out to gather them at the end of the day, this is what I find.  There has to be one in every family...an additional egg but they are all messed up now.  There is never a dull moment!

Lovely Ladies

I had been working in the yard and needed a snack and a break.  The girls thought that I should share with them.  Not!

Go get your own ladies!

There is a video of a huge chicken coming out of the hen house and then strutting around the yard.  Well, this is the female version.  She is so sweet and a little shy.

There Is Always Something Going On

A little brushing feels pretty good!

Boogie will stand forever.  The other two are as thrilled with the brush.

Boot worked forever trying to eat this one piece of hay.

He says, 'I'm out of here!'

Caught in the act.

Those boys are so nosey.  I gave the chickens a little treat and they had to come and stick their noses into it.

Turned their noses up really quick.

There was a crowd at the buffet.

The treat didn't last very long at all.

The boys were on to the bushes.

Surveying his kingdom.

Scoot trying to figure out what this chicken swing really is for.

There go the best-looking leaves in the yard.

Sneaker

I see you trying to sneak out Sunny.

And as quick and she came she was even quicker leaving.

Ms. Donna's Shots

Ms. Donna came to paint rocks and took some pic of the farm.  I love it when people share.  I get a different perspective when I see what others see.  Thanks for sharing.  Come back again soon.

One of the best pics of Scoot.  I think because he is black it is harder to get a good pic of him.

The chicken helper.  Or maybe the herder!  No, not really, she is waiting for someone to move so she can have a little scratch too.

Boogie getting a black jelly bean.

Boot getting up close and personal.

Don't Know What I Would Do Without Them

I think mixing up the compost is their favorite job.  They think I don't know that they are just looking for juicy worms.

And their new dusting spot...well let's just say that there won't be ANYTHING growing there.

Another Fairy Egg

I saved the latest fairy eggs for Josie to crack.

She was so excited to see what was inside.

We were shocked that there was no yolk in it...only whites.

Chicken Shoes Are The Best

These are known as chicken shoes.  Everyone has a pair to wear when we got out to the chickens.  Don't want andy of that stuff in the house or their cars.  Best thing about them is that you can spray them off with the hose to clean them up and then put them in the washer to sanitize them!

Easter Chickens

Cleaned up the yard a little bit.  I had a small army of chickens following me as I raked.  I pulled up lots of goodies for them to eat.  And they were so much help!

The sunshine felt so good!

There's Good News and Bad News

We lost RayJeana yesterday.  Weh I went out to let the girls out I found her.  Makes me so sad.  Now I only have one green/blue egg layer.  I guess I will figure out pretty soon if she is the one that has been laying the fairy eggs.  But I am going to guess it was RayJeana.

I freaked when I went to get him new water.  I was hoping he was still in the yard.  He was there last night when I checked on him.  Nope, not in his usual spot and not in his box.  Yelled for Luke next door to be on the lookout for Binker.  Luke has two dogs and they love to chase things. The girls and I begin to search the yard.  Found him over by the compost bins under the wagon.  Good boy!  Bur before I could get him he was gone and under the trailer.  Had to call in reinforcements (Michael and his stick).

It didn't take to long for me to grab him.  I was ever so thankful that he didn't squeeze under the fence and head for Betty Lane or worse, towards Skyler's house. (he ahs two dogs also)  Seems to be fine.  No blood or protruding bones and he still has his tail.

Eggs Come In All Shapes, Sizes, And Colors

We don't need to color eggs around here.  Some are showing up speckled.

Today's lightest and darkest eggs.

Looks like another Fairy Egg.

Can you tell that it has been raining?

A better size proportion pic.

The Easter Bunny doesn't hide eggs here...the chickens do.  These were in the goat pen today.  Silly Chickens.
