The Bad and The Good

We have read and learned first hand that you should not have only one goat.  They are really social animals...sorta just like us.  Boogie has been heartbroken with the loss of Scoot.  He cries for him.  He craves attention.  I have tried my best to be there for him, extra love and attention, extra-long brushings, and maybe some (a lot) of black licorice.

I had to make a decision, what was best for him.  And that was to rehome him to a farm or somewhere where he could have animal friends again.  With a lot of help, he has been rehomed to a farm (a real one) that is close enough that I have permission to visit.  They have chickens, ducks, cats, and three girls that are pretty excited about him coming.

I got in a few see-ya-later kisses and nudges.

My neighbor Mr. Bill came down to say good-bye to him and he gave me two pics he had taken of Boogie looking over the fence.

I was amazed first that they got his shed out of the backyard as easily as they did.  Then how great Boogie walked with a rope on his neck down the driveway and into the shed on the trailer.  It is amazing what a craving for black licorice can do.  This is how he traveled down Rt32 to his new home.  I wish I could have seen people's reactions when they passed.  Thanks a million for all your help guys.

Jon sent pics via Rusty of his new home. Looks like it is a good place with good people.  That makes me happy and sad at the same time.

Larry and Linda sent lasagna as a thank you for clearing their driveway which came in at the right time.  I really didn't feel like cooking.

A Bob Evans chocolate peanut butter pie was delivered.

And Adi drew me a picture to make me feel better.  This ended in a conversation about sad and happy tears.  I had both.

So it's been a rough week all around.

So now the only animals left on my little farm are the three dogs, hundreds (it seems) of squirrels and hopefully, I will be able to coax the birds and bees back to the yard this spring and summer.
