He Just Keeps Adding Girls

Pappy ran some errands for me the other day and came home with two more chicks.  I guess I am lucky because he couldn't find any Polish hens or some of those other fancy ones that he likes.

This is a special bunch of girls.  Ellis and Alaire have their own chickens so why shouldn't all the other grandkids have one too.  So that what we did...

So I introduce you to Pappy's Girls...
(disclaimer here:  when these babies are small I can not tell one from another.  But once they are bigger with their feathers I will get the right)

You have already met Bertha.  She is Saffi's chicken.  She is a Light Brahma.  She should be a good layer of large brown eggs.  And should be very friendly.  Love those little feathers on her legs.

Isaiah doesn't now it yet but he now is the proud 'owner' of a Silver-laced Wyandotte.  Her name is Gladys.  And she is another good layer of large brown eggs.  She can help EffieGrace with her molts because they are the same type of chicken.

You have already met Ruby, Ernie's chicken.  She is a Rhode Island Red and she will give us extra large brown eggs.  And said to be an excellent eggs layer.  Hope she can show the other girls how it is done.

We aren't replacing Susie with another bird (or two)...we just love the looks of a Plymouth Barred Rock.  Sam, little buddy, you have a chicken at Wammy's too.  Her name is Leona.  She is a pretty calm bird so you will probably be able to catch and hold her easily.

The second Barred Rock belongs to someone very far way... all the way to Brazil.  She will be Davi's girl.  Andrea is going to love this one!  Some more large brown eggs are in our future.  So, Andrea, this should be a great reason for you all to visit...say sometime in the next 5-10 years.

Fiona has already met and played with her bird named Agnes.  She is a  Red Sex Link.  I have learned that this is a combination of two heritage birds.

Cornelia is a Jersey Giant.  I figured that the yahoos needed their own bird to look after during the week.  I know they are going to spoil her rotten.  Just hope that they will be able to remember her name.

And last but not least, we have a New Hampshire for the Wammyville graduates, Ally, Marli, and Carter.  Her name is Martha.  She should do well because she is heat and cold tolerant.  And hopefully, she will be another good large brown egg layer.
