There Was A Little Chickie.....

But there first was the chicken guard dog.  She doesn't even act like they are around.  Just keeps her nose to the ground looking for chicken poop. Tonight two of the chickens acted like they were going to peck her but then they thought better of it.

The little girls still run to safety under the burning bushes.  And then they just cluck and cluck.

Lover her feathers...Inez.

EffieGrace is ever so slowly changing into the chicken of my dreams.

Ethel is chumming up with the two ring leaders, Keithetta Renetta and Susie.

Esthelle is getting so bottom heavy she can barely fly 3 inches off the ground.

Special treat tonight...half a watermelon with some feed crumbles on top.

Took them forever to try it but once they did....

Judy was a crazy lady tonight.  Love that she is growing her beard now.

Sunny getting all dressed up but she had no where to go.

Pretty girl

Judy and Dory planning something I am sure.

Hiding in the corner of the flower bed.

Dixie is not supposed to want to do this.  But she sat for a good 5 minutes and let me talk to her and pet her.

There once was a chickie that wouldn't lay an egg,
So I poured hot water up and down the chickie's leg.
The little chickie cried and the  little chickie begged.
And the poor little chickie laid a hard boiled egg.

LucyLouWho reminded me of that song today.

ChickenFest

Had some visitors today on the farm.  So we brought out the frozen blueberries to feed the girls.  I look around that this little chicken was eating them as fast as she could.

Everyone tried to feed Dixie at one time.  She really didn't seem to mind at all.

It was headband on the farm today.

They could be related!

Dixie survived but I think she might have been a little shell shocked because it took her a minute to regroup and run for the bushes.

This Is What We Do Each Night

Around 8-8:30pm if you want to find us, come on in the backyard and grad the bug spray and a seat because the chicken are our entertainment.

We have some pretty special chicken watching chairs.  And lately Esthelle likes to join us.

Not to be outdone...Susie joins in on the fun.  She is usually the first one to take a seat on your lap.

Sometimes she leaves a little mark.  I usually make sure that I wear long pants...it helps with the bugs.

Esthelle looks the oldest because of her comb.

Keithetta Renetta is definitely bottom heavy.

Effie Grace almost got herself a time out.   She wasn't playing very nicely tonight.  I had to talk to her a few times.  Mark says that he wishes he could somehow rig up a video camera and take videos of me talking to the chickens.  He seems to think that is funnier than watching the chickens.

Judy is starting to look really different.  She has a little beard thing going on now.

Ethel is by far not the pretest chicken in the bunch but she will lad the best eggs...dark chocolate ones.

It sure is taking EffieGrace a long time to look pretty.

I love all the different colorings of the feathers.

Chickie Pa saying sweet nothings in Susie's ear.

For sure and by far they are the cheapest form of entertainment!
