Getting The Garlic Ready

This year we are doing it right.  Mark ordered some garlic.

The weather is just right.

First you need to brake the bulbs apart into individual cloves.

Then you soake them in alcohol or proxide for 5 minutes.

Next they are rinsed and put into some type of fertilizer for 30 min.

If you are lucky enough a Wammyville dad will carry the bags of dirt and fertilizer from the car.

Then Pappy can rip the open and dump them.  And then the show begins!

Oh look, it's Murph with clothes on.

But not for long!

The man is NUTS!

Time to grid the bed so we get every clove the right amount of inches apart.

exactly 4 inches

Covered with straw and put to bed for the winter.

We ended up planting...
26 California White softneck
41 Chesnok red purple stripe hardneck
57 Ivan porcelion hardneck

And we have room for a little more.

Garden Clean-Up Begins

These raised beds were the easiest to clean up. We also got some hay and put it down in the walkways to keep the leaves out. We will also rake up the leaves and put them there in the bowl.

Tomatoes were hiding everywhere.

I haven't been able to do as much as I would like to have done by now. But it's hard to do one-handed. Pappy hasn't been feeling so much like he wants to be out in the garden.  We'll get it finished one of these days I'm not gonna worry.

A Veggie Walk

acorn squash

spaghetti squash

A basket full of goodness.

Murph's tomato tree tomato.

Drying out some beans for preschool.

This baffles me!

Another one of Murph's tomatoes!

Jase and I have an afternoon routine. When the little boys and Bailey go down for a nap we come out and check the garden.

I was just hanging around getting ripe and getting ready for picking.

Fancy little gourd.

Growing Pretty Corn

We are starting to harvest pretty corn. I love it. Some will be decorations and some will be used in the sensory table to help our little muscles grow stronger.

This is the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Corn sprouting on the cob.

Weeding Down To The Dirt

The yahoo and I have been weeding all the flower beds in the backyard.  Someday I dream of flowerbeds full of pine fines and beautiful flowers.

Nothing But Winter Squash

Butternut squash

Butternut and Spaghetti squash

Growing upside-down

Does anybody have a guess?

Maybe a gourd.  Or maybe an acorn squash?

These things are just crazy!
