The Remaining Animals

Or as we call them...the Entertainment Staff.

I am sorry to report that we no longer have rabbits.  Binker went on to the playground in the sky.  We think he was 9+ years old.  He was given to us after he was rescued from downtown Cincinnati.

This is the sweetest little girl.  She is a mother to all for sure.  She gets really anxious when the baby climbs.  And she tries to herd the yahoos all the time.

Ollie is growing up.  His legs are getting longer and his nose isn't pink anymore.

They love to play.  They are such outdoors dogs.

Boogie likes to watch the yahoos play.  I think that he is hoping they will feed him some leaves.  Ava loves feeding him.  Scoot was playing it shy today and he didn't want his pic taken.

Gladys always has something in her mouth.  She will chase anything that someone will throw.

She loves watching the squirrels.

The Four-Legged Boys

Boogie loves it when we trim the grasses.

Scoot eats anything.  Today it is alfalfa hay.

But then so does Boogie.

They Are At It Again

I'm guessing the squirrels are angry because there are no more tomatoes to eat.

Some Of The Clean-Up

Before when you opened the door things literally fell out on you.  Now, look at what Mark did.

Peppers all pulled.  The last delivery to Fuego of the season was filled with every pepper we had, hot and not so hot.

Cleaned out and two types of garlic planted.

Mark working on the compost bin.

There is still a little work to be done but the major part has been taken care of.

Last street pick-up was a little bit of everything.

We are already planning for next year!

Treats For The Goats

We shared some of the first watermelons with the goats and they loved it.

They use the fence as a tool for cutting the rinds into smaller pieces.  Murph always gives them sweet banana peppers.

Just In A Week This Can Happen

The first picked radish!

Finally getting pole beans on!

This little red ball of goodness is peeking out almost ready to pick.

Those silly squirrels are at it again.

a male blossom

a female blossom

And more pole beans!

Watermelon # 14 just hanging around waiting to grow.

And then this happened.  I caught all three dogs IN the melon patch.  When Imogene say me she high-tailed it back under the fence and into the house.  Gladys came when I called her once she knew she was in deep trouble then she played dead.  Ollie was clueless and continued to stand in the middle of the watermelons and bark.

Our cantaloupe has lost its hair and is getting tougher skin.

And then there was this.  I heard Ollie just making a ruckus and couldn't figure out what was wrong.  I found him stuck in the newly planted raised bed.  Somehow he had gotten in the bed but then couldn't get back out.

I did a little reading about pumpkin vines and when you should cut them.  We had some kind of powdery mildew all over the leaves.  So I just hacked them all off.

This was the end result.

Seeds Are Gong In, Phase Two

They have talked and talked about what to put in the newest raised bed.  So here ya go...the seeds have arrived.

Planting the carrot seeds in sand like he saw on...you guessed it...a YoutTube video.

Murph the master seed sewer...on so many different levels.

I made ghetto plant markers with my new laminator!!

All lined up and ready to grow.

No, Murph isn't praying over them...but I bet secretly he does (so do I) they are putting up the dog fence.

Seeds Going In

This is how they look at the end of the day.  Tomorrow I think we have enough seeds to fill the bed.

such sweetness

This is what we think might be an acorn squash that happened into the dirt.  We never had any acorn squash seeds.

Extra Special Visitor

Murph's mom, Shirley, came to meet the boys and see the garden.

We found out that she likes black licorice as much as the goats do.

What a sweetheart.  So kind.  We would love for her to come back and spend some time telling stories under the oak tree when the weather cools off a bit.  Thanks for sharing your mom Murph.

Oh, did I mention that she is 97 years old!
