We Have Renamed Her Lucky

I am a bad Chickie-Ma.   was too tired to lock the chickens up in the coop last night.  And me knowing that there is a fox in the neighborhood.

I found this on the patio this morning!  This is terrible but I was praying that it wasn't Inez.

But all's well.  We still have two chickens...one of mine and one of Mark's.

They roosted on the grill top and on a slippery drop cloth.  I am guessing it is a young fox that couldn't jump high enough to get on top of the grill.  The chickens were smart enough to huddle up and stay as far back from the front of the grill as they could.  Bums out so that is all the fox could get.

The girls have now bee put away with lots of food and water.  Hopefully, with the food supply shut safely away the fox won't come back anytime soon.  We will be on the lookout.  A neighbor also said that a coyote had been seen close to our house.

The Boys

They love a good mouthful of hay.

But don't like to have their pictures taken.  I get the camera out and this is what I get from Boogie.

But then I start sweet-talking him and he turns around o really hear what I am saying.

Scoot is eating the hay while Boogie eats some of the grain.

Then it is time for a little game of tag.

A Rooster?

This morning just as the sun was coming up I heard a strange noise coming from the backyard.  One of the girls was trying to crow like a rooster!  The first attempt as really weak.  The second was like she was clearning her throat.  And the third wasn't much better than the first attempt.  I am going out tomorrow morning to see if she will do it again in hopes to get some audio.

OOPS!

I'm blaming it all on wind damage.   The sign is wonky and the chicken looks like she wants to fly the coop!  I think the sign only needs a longer nail and I can just tighten the chicken one more twist.

You Just Never Know What You Will See

A sad day.  Something, most likely a fox, got Agnus a few days ago.  I search high and low for the body but only found feathers.
So we are down to two chickens,  one of mine and one of Mark's.

I found this in the goat pen.  Anyone want to take a guess?

There is a little something-something peeking through.

Now can you tell?

Mr. Bill sent me this.  Come to find out Boogie likes to leeo over the fence to se what Mr. Bill s doing.

Stinker!
